Amount of Electricity/Wattage Capacity

Generally, medium-sized homes between 1000-3000 square feet will need a generator that can supply 3000-5000 watts. This will be used for emergency home power backup.

To get a more definite figure on your energy consumption, you can try adding the total number and type of electrical devices that will require electricity at the same time. Typically, watt ratings are printed on the device itself so you won't have a hard time figuring it out. How noisy is the unit? Of course, since you will be using the electric generator at home, you do not want it to be loud and noisy.
